Restoration of Greenwich Market
On 20 April, in spring sunshine, HRH Duke of York attended an unveilling ceremony to mark the completion of an extensive restoration project of Greenwich Market. In the ownership of the Royal Navy's oldest charity, Greenwich Hospital, since 1694 Greenwich Market is a key attribute of Outstanding Universal Value of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site.
The series of refurbishments carried out over a number of years has resulted in a stunning local facility for stallholders, the community in Greenwich and for visitors. Greenwich Hospital is actively investing in Greenwich and the improved income stream from the refurbished market, retail and residential buildings, and public realm will help secure the Greenwich Hospital charitable fund for serving naval personnel.
The Greewich Market Plaque created by The Cardozo Kindersley Workshop was unveilled by HRH The Duke of York.
